40 hour P.O.S.T. approved K-9 Handler Training Class

  • Free with purchase of a dog
  • Can be taken as a standalone course with or without a dog for credit.
  • Course meets ILETSB standards and minimum certification requirements for State of Illinois (approved certifier and training facility)


Course Objectives:

1.  To better understand the communities response to K-9’s and to be able to deal with safety issues that may arise.
2.  To better understand law and legal issues regarding the use of narcotic detection K-9s.
3.  To effectively and safely handle a certified K-9 trained for narcotic detection.

This class will satisfy 40 hours required continuing education credits in the following areas: 4 hours – Legal Studies, 2 hours – Inter-personal Perspectives, 7 hours – Technical Studies, 17 hours – Skill Development.

The cost of this class is included with purchase of a K-9.  Purchase of a dog is not necessary to take this class, it is open to anyone in law enforcement; with or without a dog.   The  class can be scheduled as a one on one training or as a group and can be scheduled to fit your individual needs.   Please call 417-353-1596 to schedule a class.
